Bracketing and Dynamic Range

The NEX-7 has a special feature for dealing with unusual lighting conditions. If it is difficult to judge exposure, the camera can capture several images, each recorded with a slightly different exposure. This shotgun approach helps you find the best exposure. This function is available by pressing the control wheel’s rim next to the Drive Mode icon. When you have accessed the Drive Mode command, scroll through the options. You will see an icon with the letters BRK within a rectangle, followed by a capital C. At the bottom of the LCD display you will see that soft key B is labeled with OPTIONS. Press the button, and you will see Bracket: Cont.: 0.3 EV (figure 6-11a) or Bracket: Cont.: 0.7 EV (figure 6-11b) where the EV amount is used to vary the exposure plus or minus from optimum amount.
